The Wilmington Department of Public Works has compiled an attached list of streets that will be built or maintained over the next week by the city itself, or by DelDOT, Delmarva Power or private contractors. The attached information is for Monday, June 13, until Friday, June 17, 2022.
The city’s website has a real-time map that is updated daily so you can keep track of any changes to the weekly schedule due to weather or other construction-related delays. Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort is being made to compile the most accurate list each week of street projects that may affect your travel in the city the following week. But she cautioned that timeframes for listed projects could change if they are delayed due to factors such as weather.
Italian Festival, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival
Saint Anthony’s Italian Festival It starts on Sunday, June 12 and runs through Sunday, June 19. Motorists are advised that the section of North Scott Street from West 9The tenth to the west 10The tenth Streets, which were closed to vehicular traffic on Wednesday, June 8, will remain closed until 5pm on Monday, June 20. During festival hours, the following street closures will be in effect:
- North Scott Street between West 8The tenth Street and West 11The tenth Street
- Howland Street between North Scott Street and North Dupont Street
- West 9The tenth A street between North Lincoln Street and North Dupont Street
- West 10The tenth A street between North Scott Street and North Dupont Street
The hours of the Italian Festival 2022 are:
- Sunday 12th June: from 4 pm to 10:30 pm
- Monday 13th June – Friday 17th June: from 6 pm to 10:30 pm
- Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19: From 2 pm to 10:30 pm
Clifford Brown Jazz Festival 2022, now at 35The tenth General, it returns to Rodney Square on Wednesday, June 15 and runs through Saturday, June 18. Starting Tuesday, June 14 at 8 a.m. and continuing through the morning of Sunday, June 19, Market Street between 10The tenth and 11The tenth Streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic. Also, during festival nights, 10The tenth The street between King Street and Market Street will be closed from 4 pm to 10 pm, and on Saturday 18 June from 12 pm to 10 pm
Re-routing of Rockford Park
Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the City of Wilmington have announced it Rockford Park It will be closed to vehicular traffic in Wednesday, June 15th and Thursday, June 16th from 7am to 4pm, to install a new traffic pattern around the park. This project will improve safe access for bicycles and pedestrians, as well as parking in the park, which has become a problem due to increased visits.
I-95 Restoration Corridor Project
The second phase of a two-year Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reconstruction project to renovate and re-project Interstate 95 that runs through the city of Wilmington is underway. As part of its ongoing Restore the Corridor project, DelDOT reminds motorists that there are now two exits from I-95 Southbound to Wilmington: Exit 7A for downtown Wilmington and Exit 6 for 4.The tenth Street. Exit 7B, which closed last month, is expected to remain closed for construction for the next three months.
Motorists needing to exit Pennsylvania Avenue or head west on Delaware Avenue should now take Exit 7A, turn left onto Adams Street, and leave again on Delaware Avenue.
Rolling roadblocks, slope closing
Motorists traveling on I-95 Southbound on Tuesday, June 14, Wednesday, June 15, and Thursday, June 16 will encounter rolling roadblocks at 15-minute intervals starting at 9 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. each day. Traffic will be paused during these hours while the barrier walls are moved.
