Miso Sundae news and notes

Since it’s the weekend and I don’t want to waste one of my softball wrap pieces when readership isn’t high, so I’ll take this time to expand on some Mizzou news and notes.

As Eli Drinkwitz begins his third season at the helm of the Tigers, it’s important to remember that the teams (and fans) of the great SEC don’t seem to stand for mediocre results; Sports departments seem to act fast when things aren’t heading uphill. This is evidenced by the fact that this season six of the Southeastern Conference coaches enter only the first or second seasons. So, it’s time to improve, and Drink knows it. He’s totally brought the recruiting class, and he’s doing everything he can to improve fan support.

“We spent two years really trying to win and build at the same time,” Drenkewitz told Auerbach about the state of the program for 2022. “We go to back-to-back games and have our hiring classes. I think the future is bright, but the future has to be now.”

Drinkewitz told Nicole that he is confident his current roster, which he said “has more depth than any other point in his tenure, particularly in the key points along the defense line and in the secondary – and that the development of his program is moving perfectly at a pace he hoped it would be.” .

But he told her, the record isn’t the only way he judges growth, and the extended three games against Auburn, Georgia and Florida shouldn’t be the only way to assess next season.

“We’re in a scoreboard-based business, and it’s all about wins and losses,” he said. “But it also takes time to build, and there’s no immediate shift from who we were to what we want to be. It’s not a quick fix. The team that just won the National Championship took five years of top five recruiting to get there, and they have the resources Unlimited.

In other news, I sat in a meeting on Friday about a possible collaboration between J School and the Department of Sports that was really cool, and we were talking about student athletes, while they certainly know how to use social media, they might not necessarily know how to use it in a way that shows their personal brand .

I was thinking about this when I saw Aidan Shaw’s latest post and his Twitter profile. Just a new incoming student who’s already got an email link for business inquiries and his OpenDorse profile link, and he’s working on merchandise, which will be sold on his personal website, theaidanshaw.com.

All of you, I’m so excited to see him play. Also, I need to start recognizing these other guys’ faces because when I was looking at the background of these pictures, I realized I don’t recognize everyone yet!
