Monroe County has plenty of entertainment options

After two years of scattered entertainment options, the Monroe-area local events calendar is filling up once again.

Many local and regional fairs, festivals and events have been held.

Some events, like the Luna Pier Freedom Fest, are returning after a two-year COVID hiatus. Others, including the Milan Music Festival (formerly Milan Bluegrass Festival), are resuming a bigger event after a smaller version in 2021.

Milan Bluegrass Festival, now called Milan Music Festival, is scheduled to take place August 2-6.

There are still two regular shows, such as the Sumpter Township Country Festival and the Labor Day Festival at St. Joseph Church in Erie, abolished. Saint Joseph may hold a one-day celebration in the fall; Plans will be announced at a later time.

More upcoming events will be announced in Monroe News with dates set. To report an event, send an email to [email protected]

Monroe performs Big Band in 2018. The band will be coming to St. Mary's Park on June 23.
