Louisiana House blocks abortion bill that would allow women to be charged with murder
The Republican-led House of Representatives in Louisiana halted a measure that would have allowed women who undergo abortions to be charged with murder.
The motion, passed by a state assembly committee last week, sought to recognize a fertilized fetus as a person and made it possible for both doctors and pregnant women to be charged under the state’s homicide law if they perform or obtain an abortion.
