Gary – The highest paid casino in Indiana is adding a new amenity.
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana opens its much-anticipated sportsbook, where guests can bet on sporting events taking place in Chicago, across the country and around the world.
Hard Rock Sportsbook is located inside the casino right next to the Hard Rock Café.
Live sporting events and betting odds are displayed on screens near the betting counter and patrons can watch games from tables in the café while enjoying a drink, meal or live music, as well as from nearby seating and other games.
Hard Rock has been the only casino in Northwest Indiana that lacks a retail sportsbook since sports betting was legalized in the state in 2019.
Several commercial and regulatory hurdles delayed the launch of the Hard Rock Sportsbook when the new casino opened its doors on Highway 80/94 and Bourne Street about a year ago as an alternative to the Majestic Star casinos on Lake Michigan that also did not offer sports betting.
At this time, Hard Rock is not launching a mobile sports betting app in Indiana along with its personal sportsbook.
Although mobile sports betting through Hard Rock is likely to come soon to Hoosier State as the company is already doing online sports betting in Arizona, Iowa, New Jersey and Virginia.
According to the Indiana Gaming Commission, in March, Hard Rock was the state’s highest-grossing casino for the sixth month in a row, once again overtaking the previous earnings leader, Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, for “wins” or revenue after paying successful bets.
Hard Rock’s win from slot machines and table games totaled $38.5 million for the month, up 22% compared to February’s win, and 12% more than Horseshoe’s win in March of $34.4 million, according to IGC.
Indiana’s gaming revenue report for April is due out Thursday.
