Taco Rock has opened its third location in Falls Church with more DMV locations in the worksFalls Church, Virginia (RestaurantNews.comChef Mike Cordero is on fire taco rock. Owner of Northern Virginia and his group of restaurants have opened Team Cordero Taco Rock-Falls Church, the third and largest location in the newest fast-casual concept. Taco Rock-Falls Church is located at 1116 West Broad Street in the recently completed Birch & Broad Shopping Center. The new 2,815-square-foot gourmet Taqueria restaurant and tequila bar closely replicates the Rosslyn and Alexandria locations with several new additions. Prominent DC and New York designer Yvette Irene developed the interior design.

Taco Rock is Chef Mike Cordero’s first casual restaurant concept and first venture with Team Cordero, a family business group consisting of Chef Mike Cordero and his sons Nick Cordero and Anthony Cordero and Chef Stefano Marzano of MightyMeals. Taco Rock-Falls Church is Chef Mike Cordero’s 10th location in Northern Virginia and seats 85 guests with 25 dining tables and 35 bar stools centered around a 25-foot tequila bar. The larger restaurant area features spacious indoor space and a large outdoor patio that seats 100 guests and features heat lamps and large garage front windows that connect to the outdoor space for al fresco dining.

Taco Rock-Fall Church’s menu matches that of its counterparts in Arlington and Alexandria, offering affordable gourmet tacos on homemade Blue Rock Tortillas, an original recipe that features blue corn tortillas. Taco Rock has an extensive tequila bar, serving specialty tequila cocktails and imported Mexican beer. Dessert items include crunchy stuffed churros, with a variety of cream fillings, and gourmet tacos made to order. Basic taco rock-themed events and daily specials, such as Happy Hours seven days a week, are moved to the Falls Church location.

Featured menu items include:

  • Beria Crunch Supreme Wrap: Mozzarella cheese, queso, crispy tortilla, pico de gallo and sour cream.
  • Beef taco: Marinated Ground Beef, Melted Queso, Jalapenos, Jack Cheese, Sour Cream and Flamed Cheetos.
  • Beria Taco: Braised beef, melted cheese, onions, cilantro, guacamole and beef for dipping.

Erin’s interior reflects the Taco Rock Rosslyn and Alexandria locations with many new design pops. She has revamped the space into a lively and vibrant restaurant with a great ambiance that pays homage to the colorful rock ‘n’ roll culture. Maintaining a street taco feel, the new restaurant offers a rustic, contemporary palette that features a corrugated wood paneled bar front, a stainless steel round bar counter, a mix of colorful tiles, burnt orange and gray leather banquettes, railroad lighting and industrial pendants throughout. Bathrooms offer a unique skull wallpaper for Day of the Dead themed social media posts. In the back lobby is a full-length abstract mural of a farmer tossing blue corn cobs into the horizon, which hints at Taco Rock’s Blue Rock Tortillas and runs entirely along the driveway. Introduced on this site is a vintage TV screen displaying classic video clips mating with retro stereo speaker wall art throughout the room – a new design element Erin plans to move forward on her future Taco Rock locations. The main focal point is the iconic giant taco rock guitar that juts out from the ceiling and runs the length of the entire restaurant, highlighted at the first two locations and the largest in Falls Church.

Later this year, Team Cordero plans to open Taco Rock-Lorton, its fourth at Liberty Market in Lorton Virginia. The Lorton locale is part of Team Cordero’s larger expansion plans throughout the National Capital Region for up to 12 Taco Rock locations. In January 2021, Team Cordero opened Taco Rock Alexandria, their second location in Pinecrest Plaza Shopping Center and introduced Taco Rock Rosslyn in downtown Arlington in November 2019.

“Taco Rock is a delicious treat that gives a nod to street food that includes a gourmet twist with Blue Rock tacos,” said Mike Cordero. “Team Cordero is pleased to expand their taco rock footprint in Northern Virginia with the opening of our largest and third location in Falls Church.”

Taco Rock is open daily for lunch and dinner and offers takeaway and delivery including ready-made cocktails. To stay up to date on events and happenings at Taco Rock, please visit www.thetacorock.com or follow us on Instagram, MustafaHosny Oh God, Amen.
