Wilmington, DL. , April 14, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Tech Impact, the Delaware Department of Correction and the Delaware Department of Education today announced the launch of a pilot batch of Tech Impact’s customer experience training program, CXWorks, at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution (BWCI). The programme, which is popular in Las Vegas, is funded by a grant from Barclays in an effort to connect the women, returning citizens, with local support and community resources that will help them find employment.

“We are excited to experience CXWorks in Delaware alongside our partners Barclays and Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution. This program will train and hire women in the high-demand customer service sector,” said Patrick Callehan, CEO of Tech Impact. “Barclays has supported the program since its inception in Nevada in 2016, and we hope to replicate the success of the market, where 160 people have graduated with an employment rate of over 80%.”

CXWorks from Tech Impact is a free, eight-week workforce development program that provides professional training and certification to individuals ready to master the client experience. Students immerse themselves in the skills and knowledge required for call center and “call” positions, helping companies take care of customer service needs by phone, instant messaging, and other forms of communication.

“The CXWorks training program is fully aligned with our mission to successfully prepare women to re-enter our community,” Dr. Dwight Bonnie, superintendent teacher at Baylor Women’s Correctional Facility, said:. “We work hard to instill professionalism, work ethic and soft skills in every student in our program. CXWorks complements our program, giving women at BWCI the opportunity for professional training in customer service and job creation upon release in an industry that is in high demand.”

Six BWCI residents participate in Tech Impact’s first CXWorks training class. All participants have already obtained a GED or are currently working to obtain a GED and have been selected, in part, because they are close to being released later this year. Upon successful completion of CXWorks, BWCI graduates will earn an industry-recognized customer service certification. After their release from prison, Tech Impact employees will follow up to help them secure a job in the community.

“The Delaware Department of Corrections is pleased to be the first correctional system in the nation to introduce the CXWorks Employment Training Program to the prison facility,” Delaware Department of Correction Commissioner Monroe B. Hudson Jr. “We appreciate the partnership that provides this new pathway to help incarcerated people learn practical skills they can use to obtain employment and advance their success in return.”

“Barclays is committed to partnering with organizations that focus on creating opportunities and removing barriers to success for those looking for work,” Jane Zhou, Head of Citizenship at Barclays US Consumer Bank, said:. “The CXWorks Training Program provides valuable tools to help these women build a better future and develop the skills and confidence needed for employment.”
