Technical Director Dennis Gates visits 590 Fan

There’s not much news on Thursday, but our brave captain—the basketball player—went to 590 The Fan to chat with Frank Cusumano about all things Mizzou Hoops, but mainly that new addition.

Here’s a recap.. pretty much the whole thing, haha. I really love hearing HCDG talk.

So how did you get Isiaih Mosley? Or any recruiter for that matter?

In the end, we have to look at Mizzou’s basketball tradition. Obviously this speaks volumes across every era, from Norm Stewart to Quinn Snyder to Frank Heath (Iraq) to Mike Anderson to Kim and also to Konzo…what we’re trying to do is stand on their shoulders and take back what we know is the legitimate place for basketball. miso.

Collectively, I think when you look at the list that we put together, there are very interesting pieces and guys who are really good players, and I really think they are the kind of players that we will continue to attract. This allows peace of mind for the young man to see the right place for him…. That, and being able to come home and play in front of his family, friends and loved ones; You cannot compare it to anything else.

What did you see on the tape when you saw Issa?

I see the same things I saw in Sean East, which is 50/40/90 too. I saw the same things in Nick Honor. D’Moi Hodge has the same skill set. You have to be successful in employing stats, and our stats allow us to be successful. Isiaih Mosley does so; He checks those boxes. He averaged 20 points while playing 180… Nobody talks about how he’s wearing it; It bounces well for the guard, and I think that’s something to highlight. He’s better on the defensive side because people give him credit.

What did it look like? (Side note: do we know when this happened?)

It was simple. Our congratulations were more than anything, and excitement…. And let’s get to work.

What people don’t know is how much sympathy, how much sympathy, and how cute baby Isiaih Mosley is. I really believe in his intuition, he’s felt this way the whole time. I think he sat in the background during gate time and Mizzou was on his mind; He just didn’t tell anyone. I really think what we did was give him a great cause with the kind of momentum that kids see and read on Twitter with the basketball software. I give credit to the fans for being so supportive during this time because the excitement is important. Our support says my work has been great.

(Another side note: did they already know he was coming when he took over?)

How do you think creating a good list helped Mosley get to Mizzou?

I think when it comes to that, you have to look at your teammates that you’ll be with in the dressing room. Noah Carter played in MVC, but Noah Carter was on the other side of a 40-point match by Isiaih Mosley. You have to understand that these guys live in… 3 degrees of the class bubble because they are their peers; They played against each other. I just think our guys welcomed each other in a way that some might view as, “How is everyone going to get to the same page?” But with that commitment, and with that signing, Isiaih Mosley has been greeted with open arms by his future teammates and current teammates here at Mizzou. It’s incredible because the right personalities are in our locker room.

You said you already had a team meeting. When are you going to put them in court? (Also invited Frank to visit, btw)

This childhood stage that we are in is very important to where we are going and being. If you see this part, you will have a vision of where it can go…. Our first practice was yesterday (Wednesday). We have another one today (Thursday).

Our kids come from great programs we’ve been lucky enough to get out of the gate and from high school. They come from great coaches…Noah Carter comes from a long tradition of a program. His college coach (Ben Jacobson) is a great coach and a great conference valley. He’s a versatile kid, a wonderful infectious personality, and what he was able to do is well documented.

Side note: Go Celtics! As mentioned last week, Jaylen Brown (ie) is an A+ human, and was trained by Cuonzo Martin at Cal. I really wanted a reason to share my favorite NBA Paint again… Follow @nba_paint on Twitter. You will not be disappointed with their useful Microsoft Paint style graphics.
