The big travel news this week was the US scrapping testing requirements for international air travelers.

Now that the requirement is officially lifted as of today, here’s a look at some of the destinations Americans can travel to without a test this summer. For a trip to these cities, you will not need a test to visit nor will you be required to take a test for return. No more Covid-travel admin here – just fun and adventure!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Mexico has never had testing requirements for international travelers including Native Americans. Back in early January of this year, the country removed the health questionnaire form requirement that had been the only restriction imposed by the Covid virus on travelers throughout the pandemic.

Cabo is one of the most important destinations in Mexico. From top-rated beach resorts to plenty of outdoor adventures and great food, travelers can’t get enough. And with cheap flight options from the West Coast of the United States, it’s very tempting not to get Cabo nowadays.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Back in February, the Dominican Republic scrapped all entry requirements for travelers, including the mask authorization. At that time, 100% of the scheduled flights to the popular resort of Punta Cana are currently operating. So why not take an easy and stress-free vacation to the Caribbean?

Outside the resort, there are many opportunities to relax and enjoy your stay in paradise. Visit Los Haitises National Park to see some rare wildlife (the only way to get there is by boat!) and explore the caves at Cueva de las Maravillas on a day trip so impressive that you’ll think about them for years.

London, England

The UK removed all Covid restrictions back in March, and US travelers do not need to show any negative Covid tests before leaving for travel. And with US airlines ramping up their transatlantic flights to London, traveling to Big Smoke hasn’t been so easy for a while.

Enjoy the warm summer weather in London and spend an afternoon at Camden Market, wander through Piccadilly Circus, check out the many free museums, and relax with a pint on the patio at one of the city’s many famous pubs.

Ulan Bator, Mongolia

After some confusion, Mongolia has officially abolished entry requirements for international travelers, including test mandates. This landlocked country has been very strict with Covid rules throughout the pandemic and has been closed to tourists for two years. But now, Mongolia is ready to welcome you back.

Mongolia is a much more under-the-radar destination for travelers but is packed with plenty of unique things to do. Travel to the capital of Ulaanbaatar and explore the historic city for a few days before heading out into the countryside, which is actually one of the most remote destinations in the world. It is possible to book a local city tour for a day trip or even a week-long adventure depending on your availability.

Rome, Italy

Italy raised all Covid-related entry requirements for travelers on June 1, so this summer you can visit Rome as if it were 2019 again.

The Italian capital is the perfect place to indulge and realize the travel dreams you’ve been fantasizing about for two years. Sightseeing, strolling Piazza Novana, start your morning with a roadside cappuccino and end your days with a tiramisu – just make sure there are plenty of gelato samples in between.

And don’t forget to bring good walking shoes (not just for exploring the historical sights, but for scooping up all that delicious fresh pasta!).

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Just last month, Croatia canceled all of its entry requirements for international arrivals, including American Americans. Moreover, mask mandates have been removed and life in this Balkan country is back to normal when it comes to Covid health guidelines.

The southern historical city of Dubrovnik is a great introduction to Croatia. While many tourists spend a few days here, consider booking a longer trip so you can really get to know the place. With stunning views, great hotel stays, a stunning old town, and even sunset kayaking tours, you can easily fill your days in Dubrovnik while still traveling at your own pace.

Cancun in Mexico

Besides Cabo, Cancun is the hottest destination in Mexico and one of the most visited destinations in the world for the past two years. With no travel restrictions and more direct flight options available from cities across the United States, getting to Cancun has never been easier.

For your vacation, you can fly to Cancun and stay in this popular resort town or go out and explore other parts of Quintana Roo. Cancun is a short drive from Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Puerto Morelos if you’re looking for a more relaxing option.

Berlin Germany

Germany has completely eliminated its entry requirements for US travelers, and at the time of writing, US travelers can visit Germany without any pre-departure testing requirements.

Berlin – the capital of modern Germany comes alive in the summer. Berliners are park dwellers and this city is full of them, so you will have no problem finding a great green space to relax all day with your travel buddies. Take a picnic, catch a glimpse of an open-air festival or local market at the weekend, and even go thrift at an antique shop in Neukölln, one of Berlin’s chicest neighbourhoods. Next, head to the popular Kreuzberg district for some of the city’s best restaurants and bars.

All mask assignments in Germany have ended, except for public transportation and healthcare settings. The masks must be medical grade, so don’t forget to bring your own FFP2 mask to get your hands on a Deutsche Bahn!

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

The Central Asian nation of Kyrgyzstan canceled its entry requirements for international travelers in April, so American travelers can visit visa-free and restrictions-free this summer. What better opportunity to explore this lesser known destination?

Besides Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan is a wonderful landlocked country that has a lot to offer travelers. Just outside the capital, Bishkek, you’ll find the Altai Mountains and are a popular destination for intrepid explorers. The summer months are ideal for exploring this area, as many trails are inaccessible during the winter.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Iceland removed its testing requirements for US travelers again in February. And with the warm summer months, this gorgeous North Atlantic island is ready to welcome tourists once again.

Low-cost airlines have recently ramped up their flight routes to Reykjavik, so a cheap flight to Iceland is just a few clicks away. What better way to celebrate the end of travel restrictions than by taking a road trip through Iceland? On your summer adventure, discover picturesque waterfalls, volcanoes, relax in the blue lagoon, and sample Icelandic dishes at one of Reykjavik’s many top-rated restaurants.
