The best vacation destinations around the world have been revealed. By accounting for increases in travel destination search volumes on popular social networking site Pinterest, trend experts WeThrift have come up with which destinations are trending around the world among travelers and could be set to welcome huge crowds this summer. Here’s a look at the top trending destinations – and what you need to visit.

Research by WeThrift found that Porto, Portugal It was the most popular destination in the world, with a 62% increase in searches on Pinterest.

The perfect weekend destination in Europe, this colorful riverside city is more than worth a trip for any traveler, as millions flock there to enjoy its famous pastries and wander its cobblestone streets. To enter Portugal, travelers must show either evidence of vaccination, proof of recovery or a negative Covid-19 test result (taken within 72 hours for PCR tests or 48 hours for rapid antigen tests).

Like Mykonos, there is more to their island than its clubs, as the northern tip proves to be much quieter and its beautiful beaches cater to all types of travelers.

With the vast majority of entry barriers to Thailand now removed, the hugely popular destination is back in business. Searches for Phuket – the country’s largest and most popular island – are up 26%, with travelers keen to explore the nightlife of Patong or the scenic beaches of Rawai, Kata and Nai Harn once again. All travelers to Thailand must have a Thailand Pass, which can be submitted here – but it looks like this requirement may be on its way out over the next few weeks.
