US tourism executives share messages and tips for travel advisors

A travel advisor in today’s world is critical to the recovery of the travel industry.

“I’ve heard of travel agent deaths since I’ve been in the profession, and I’ve been in this business for nearly 50 years, and it’s never happened,” said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the American Travel Association. “I think right now the demand for travel professionals will be more than ever due to the complexity of airline ticket fare protocols and all that, so travel agents who differentiate themselves as experts and not just book one trip are going to thrive because people are all mixed and they are looking for a professional to help him through the process.”

Most travel agents and consultants usually book international flights for their clients. However, more and more are planning domestic travel across the US for their clients.

The pandemic has given way to increased domestic leisure travel in the United States, and many Americans have relied on their advisors to help navigate where to go and what to do during the pandemic. This has resulted in some advisers needing to call US destinations more often than they have in the past.

We spoke with several senior executives from some of the best tourism boards in the United States to give them a chance to share their message, appreciation, or any advice they might have for travel advisors.
