Yolanda Edwards loves to shop the old-fashioned way: not with her smartphone but with her passport. As Travel & Lifestyle Editor, and former Creative Director of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, Edwards has spent decades combing the world for great destinations filled with stunning scenery and unique treasures. Think: handcrafted espadrilles, delicate silk scarves, pretty bed linens, and polished leather goods that instantly transport you to another time and place. “Traveling has been my obsession my whole life,” Edwards says. “I’ve got the best advice from people who travel a lot and plan trips from just seeing a picture of a place and falling in love with it.”
Inspired by Edwards’ passion for launch YOLO magazine, a travel magazine focused on personal travel experiences. The publication, released three times a year, features stunning photography along with stories and recommendations from people of good taste, who were willing to share their discoveries from all over the world, she said. There’s also Yolo Intel, a Substack newsletter, that focuses on telling stories in the longer format of its travels and those of global contributors because, she says, “I can’t get everywhere in the world to write about them!”
While traveling to places near and far, Edwards has honed her work and costumes, leaning toward classics that are well-packaged and can be mixed and matched to create endless looks. Sure, shopping along cobbled streets and in bustling markets is always the best, but Edwards has also rounded up online favorites that can be accessed from anywhere. Here, she reveals what’s at the top of your must-have list.
